Matt Butler, AIA

Senior Associate

Matt is a licensed architect with over 11 years of experience in various types of architecture, including higher education, governmental, transportation, industrial, retail, military, and multi-family building types. He received his Bachelor of Architecture from Virginia Tech and his Master of Architecture from NC State. Notable projects include the UNCC Center City Building, CLT Airport’s Fleet Maintenance Facility, CPCC’s Health Careers and New Education Center buildings, and the Fayetteville Area System of Transit Multimodal Center. Matt performs a variety of architectural and managerial duties and remains involved throughout all phases of a project, from early conceptual design through construction administration. He is proficient in a wide variety of software platforms, including BIM, CAD, and the full Adobe and Microsoft Office suites, among other programs.

Matt remains active with AIA Charlotte as co-Chair of the Young Architects Forum and was awarded the AIA Charlotte Emerging Professional of the Year in 2016. He also lends his time to various organizations throughout Charlotte, including Boy Scouts of America, AIAS, Central Piedmont Community College’s Architectural Technology Department, and UNCC’s School of Architecture. He is a LEED Accredited Professional and is NCARB certified. Matt is passionate about working to increase the public’s perception of the value of architecture, as well as promoting sustainable and creative design practices.
